The disparity remains even among White and Black applicants who had similar incomes and debt-to-income ratios. Notably, Navy Federal approved a slightly higher percentage of applications from White borrowers making less than $62,000 a year than it did of Black borrowers making $140,000 or more.” - CNN, “The nation’s largest credit union rejected more than half its Black conventional mortgage applicants”

The data doesn’t lie. As you can see, racial discrimination is still fueling our national housing crisis. In California alone, there are over 172,000 reported people living without permanent housing - and that is just 1a fraction of the national total. Homelessness shot up by more than 12% in the past year alone, forcing more than 650,000 people in America out onto the street. Los Angeles in has the largest population of people without homes in the country. As Tenant Associations become more empowered across the country, this play has a vital role to play in entertaining and enlightening our municipal communities.
